Why celebrate Samhain?
Our bodies dance in rhythm to the larger patterns of creation. We are not separate. We are part of a larger story. The rhythms of the earth have invitations for us to deepen into the wisdom of our own bodies and souls.
The Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced sow-when) marks midpoint of the autumn season, the end of the harvest, and the portal into the darkest part of the year. It’s the ancient precursor to what we know as Halloween, or All Hallow’s Eve and All Saints Day.
It’s a time of remembering, releasing, and consciously entering the darkness. It’s an invitation to cultivate a sacred relationship with death, decay and darkness as essential ingredients to life.
Gathering together in ceremony helps us to participate in the season through community, practice, and intention. As we join together, we remember our wild belonging. We remember the Spirit who sang this spiral dance into being. And we remember the oneness of the great web of life.
What to expect:
We’ll gather outside in a private backyard under. There are two flights of stairs to climb to get there.
The space is co-created so the wisdom of the circle can grow with each voice added. Expect sacred, compassionate community with space to listen and share from the heart.
Through song, story, ritual and embodied practice, we’ll take a deep dive into the season.
We’ll create an communal altar. You might bring something to honor one who feels like an ancestor to you (biologically, spiritually, intellectually, etc.), or a symbol of somthing you are releasing/grieving, or perhaps a gift of the harvest of this past year.
Who’s this for?
This space is open to women and non-binary folx longing to connect to body, to earth, to ritual, to the larger community of creation, and to the divine within and between.
Cost:
$25-45, sliding scale; pay what you are able.
If you are not in a position to be able to pay at this time, please just come and enjoy. Your presence is your gift. Truly.
Spaces are limited by the constraints of the venue, so please show respect for this when claiming a spot. Thank you.
